CASE STUDY
This innovative founder got out of grind-mode, scaled his business, and got back to time with his family with the right strategy and guidance.
“Thanks to Nick’s guidance, our small business has provided us the freedom to raise our three successful children while helping thousands of people.”
- David, Founder
Dave had an incredible product, a loyal customer base, and expertise in his field. But his business wasn’t working for him—it was working him.
At $162,000 a year in sales, the business had potential, but it was stuck. Dave and his wife were juggling every part of it—manufacturing, fulfillment, and customer service—all out of their garage. Their time was consumed by daily logistics and problem-solving, leaving no room to grow.
They were running on a hamster wheel. Revenue was capped, and so was their time. To make matters worse, they wanted to be more present for their three young kids but couldn’t break free from the demands of the business.
Dave was trapped in “startup mode.” Early on, founders have to wear every hat, but over time, this approach limits growth. Dave needed a new way forward—a strategy to step out of the grind and into a leadership role.
When Dave came to me, I told him, “If this business is going to grow, it can’t rely entirely on you and your wife.” He was ready for change, so we built a strategy designed to achieve three goals: redefine his role, build scalable growth, and streamline operations.
This strategy became the blueprint for everything we did. It wasn’t just about solving problems—it was about building a business that could thrive without relying entirely on Dave’s time and energy.
The first part of the strategy focused on shifting Dave from operator to leader.
Next, we developed a growth strategy focused on sustainable, long-term success.
This wasn’t about chasing short-term sales—it was a strategy to leverage the business’s strengths and grow beyond the limits of Dave’s time.
Finally, we focused on operational efficiency to support growth and reduce bottlenecks.
The results of this strategy were transformative.
Sales jumped from $162,000 to $782,000, nearly 5X growth. The subscription program provided steady cash flow, and partnerships elevated the brand’s position in the market. The scalable model created a snowball effect, driving more revenue with less of Dave and his wife’s time.
Dave’s wife reduced her involvement by 80%, giving them the time they wanted to focus on their family.
But the biggest transformation was in Dave. He went from being buried in operations to leading the business. For the first time, he had the time and energy to focus on what mattered most—building relationships, strategizing, and being present with his family.
Dave’s story is one many founders can relate to. Early on, you may have to do everything yourself, but over time, that mindset limits your growth. The hardest (and most important) shift is stepping out of the grind and into a leadership role.
The strategy we built wasn’t just about growing the business—it was about giving Dave the tools and clarity to thrive as a business owner. With that foundation, the business didn’t just grow—it became something he could lead and enjoy.
Dave made the leap, and his story shows what’s possible when you move from “founder’s startup mode” to “business owner mode” with the right strategy in place.
